The “F1 In Schools” 2011 season is now open. F1 in Schools is a global competition, run in Ireland by the Irish Computer Society (ICS). As we build the knowledge economy and encourage more school-leavers and college graduates to opt for programmes in science, technology and engineering, it is vital that we stimulate an interest in these areas at school level. This challenge was introduced in Ireland by ICS in response to a recognised skills shortage in computing and engineering.
ICS is also delighted to host the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) AGM on 2nd – 5th March. ICS is a national Member Society of IFIP. IFIP is an international non-governmental, non-profit umbrella organization for national societies and other interested parties working in the field of information processing, established in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO following the first World Computer Congress held in Paris in 1959.
Thank you to Declan Brady from ICS for this information.
