The European Commission has published the results of the 2021 Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). Main findings include that 56% of individuals in the EU have at least basic digital skills and that there is a slight increase in the number of IT specialists in employment: In 2020, the EU counted 8.4 million IT specialists compared to 7.8 million a year earlier. The data also indicate a clear need to increase training offers and opportunities, in order to reach the targets for skills in the Europe’s Digital Decade initiative.
