A recent Eurostat survey analysed the main obstacles that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger companies encounter in recruiting IT professionals, and how this has impacted economic growth. The results showed that 55% of companies experienced difficulties in recruiting IT specialists over the course of 2019, with SMEs struggling more often in filling their vacancies. Reasons such as lack of applications, lack of relevant qualifications and higher salary expectations were mentioned by SMEs and larger companies alike.
