According to Euractiv, an analysis of 12 recovery plans submitted by the EU Member States indicates that they will fall short of the digital targets set for the Digital Decade towards 2030. The analysis shows that the area of skills and training is being neglected in the policy plan and projects and that, without further intervention, only 58% of adults across the EU would have basic digital skills in 2030 – not reaching the European Commission’s target of 80%. Based on the country recovery plans analysed, the €43 billion of EU funding assigned to upskilling and reskilling will reach just 2 million people, or a mere 3% of workers across the EU. At the same time, only half of the 12 countries have allocated any funding to meet the target for growing the IT professional workforce to 20 million.
