A new recent political agreement on the European Year of Skills (EYS) 2023 has been reached by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU. This agreement concerns the year-long celebration of skills development and learning across Europe, focusing on four main objectives that the European Year of Skills will pursue: 1) fostering a more effective investment in training and upskilling, 2) ensuring that skills are applicable to the demands of the labour market, 3) matching people’s aspirations and skill sets with opportunities on the job market and 4) attracting people from third countries with the skills needed by the EU.
The EYS will kick off with a celebration on 9 May.
