The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) mourns the loss of its esteemed Chairman, Mr. Costas Agrotis, a visionary leader in the field of information technology and public administration.
Mr. Agrotis held a Bachelor’s Degree in Computers and Management from the State University of New York and an MSc in Public Sector Management from the Cyprus International Institute of Management. He dedicated over four decades to public service, joining the Department of Data Processing Services in 1976 and later serving as the Director of the Information Technology Services Department of the Government of Cyprus from 1997 until his retirement in 2016.
He was an influential figure in global and European IT governance, representing Cyprus in numerous international councils, including the e-Government Expert Group and the EU CIO Council. His leadership extended to pivotal initiatives such as the Y2K transition, the i-2010 Information Society Strategy, and the e-Europe+ programme.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Agrotis was an active member of CCS and other esteemed organisations such as ISACA and PMI. His unwavering commitment to advancing technology and governance left an enduring legacy.
CEPIS and the broader IT community deeply mourn his passing. His vision and dedication will be profoundly missed.
