The John von Neumann Computer Society (NJSZT), together with the Gábor Dénes Awardees’ Club Association (GDKE), held a commemorative conference in the prestigious ceremonial hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. The event marked both the celebration of the Hungarian Informatics Day and a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Bálint Dömölki, one of the most influential figures in Hungarian computing history.
The occasion also hosted the General Assembly of the renewing Neumann Society, highlighting a new phase of development under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, President of NJSZT. Alongside the institutional renewal, the programme looked ahead to the future of digital innovation, reflecting the Society’s commitment to engaging both established experts and the next generation.
The conference featured a series of scientific talks that bridged past achievements and emerging challenges in computing, including inspiring contributions connected to space research and astronauts, as well as forward-looking topics reaching toward robotics and humanoid technologies. The programme also highlighted the presence and inspiring role of Hungarian astronauts Gyula Cserényi and Tibor Kapu, reinforcing the strong link between informatics and the future of space exploration.
