The Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (jBOI) 2025 concluded successfully in Cyprus, bringing together young programming talents from nine Balkan nations. Organized by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) alongside the Ministry of Education, Sport, and Youth, the event was held at Tasos Mitsopoulos Lyceum in Aradippou, with ceremonies hosted in Larnaka.
The week-long competition followed International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) standards and featured students aged 10–15 tackling complex algorithmic problems. Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy, Dr. Nikodimos Damianou, addressed the Closing Ceremony, highlighting the long-term value of developing programming skills. Additional greetings were offered by local and educational officials, while cultural performances by students enriched both the opening and closing events.

Cyprus’s team excelled, earning one Gold Medal (Mariza Paspalli) and two Bronze Medals (Alexis Tsangaris and Petros Vourmas), with other team members also achieving strong results. These successes bring Cyprus’s 2025 total to eight medals and one honorable mention across international informatics competitions.
Details for the upcoming Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics 2025–26, the national contest that selects future international team members, will be announced soon.
