The annual CEPIS Board of Directors election took place at the Council meeting on 27 November 2025. Mary Cleary (Irish Computer Society) and Meltem Eryilmaz (Informatics Association of Turkiye) have been re-elected and will serve their second term. Daniel Krupka (German Informatics Society) was elected to the third open position, joining the CEPIS Board for the first time.
Mary Cleary is an accomplished ICT and business leader with extensive experience in education, certification, standards, and professional development, and a long-standing involvement with CEPIS. She has held senior roles in the Irish Computer Society, chairs CEN/TC 428 on ICT Professionalism and Digital Competences, and sits on several national boards. Her work spans national and EU projects, digital inclusion, eHealth, and policy development. In CEPIS, she aims to advance a recognised IT profession across Europe, raise the profile of national informatics societies, strengthen relations with EU institutions, and promote sustainability, green ICT, and European digital sovereignty.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Eryılmaz is a statistician and computer engineer with a distinguished academic and industry background in AI, data mining, machine learning, and digital transformation. She has held leadership roles in Turkish IT organisations, taught across Europe, published widely, and currently serves at Ostim Technical University. As a CEPIS Board member and Chair of the Information Society Expert Group, she seeks to strengthen CEPIS’s voice on digital transformation, AI ethics, and professionalism. Her priorities include enhancing skills frameworks, fostering collaboration across borders, contributing to sustainability and AI policy debates, promoting diversity in ICT, and representing Türkiye’s perspectives within CEPIS.
Daniel Krupka is the Managing Director of the German Informatics Society (GI), where he leads political outreach, strategic partnerships, and major projects in AI, green tech, digital education, and digital sovereignty. He has also represented GI at CEPIS for many years, always actively contributing to the strategic vision of the organisation. With a background in public policy and international study, he has served on numerous national advisory boards and contributes to Germany’s digital strategy ecosystem. In CEPIS, he prioritises strengthening the organisation’s political influence at the European level, empowering CEPIS expert groups, and ensuring strategic goals translate into concrete actions. His focus is on elevating CEPIS’s visibility, shaping European digital policy, and supporting impactful initiatives across the informatics community.
Prof. Dr. Kai Rannenberg (GI) is stepping down after having served two terms as member of the Board and Deputy President. CEPIS would like to thank Kai for his contribution. He will remain heavily involved in CEPIS work by continuing to lead the CEPIS Legal and Security Issues expert group.
