The Austrian Association of Software Innovation (VÖSI) has officially joined the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) as an affiliate member, marking a significant step towards deeper collaboration in advancing digital skills, professional standards, and innovation across Europe’s IT sector.

The affiliation strengthens the ties between Austria’s software innovation community and CEPIS. By joining CEPIS, VÖSI aligns itself with a broader European effort to support the ethical and competent use of information technologies and to shape policy at the continental level.
CEPIS President Luis Fernandez-Sanz welcomed VÖSI into the network: “We are delighted to have VÖSI as an affiliate member. Their expertise and dedication to the Austrian tech community will add great value to CEPIS’s mission of fostering a skilled, ethical, and inclusive digital Europe.”
VÖSI General Secretary Max Höfferer said: “We look forward to actively contributing to the future activities and goals of CEPIS, and to represent Austria as a committed and forward-looking member of the European ICT community. We see our membership not only as a strategic step toward stronger European collaboration, but also as a way to empower our members and partners through sharing knowledge and learning from each other.”
The new affiliation will enable both organisations to collaborate on strategic topics such as digital skills development, AI ethics, cybersecurity, and the promotion of women in IT, especially through VÖSI’s strong Women in ICT Network initiative. Joint events, working groups, and policy advocacy efforts are expected to follow as part of this cooperative relationship.
This development marks a new chapter in pan-European collaboration for both CEPIS and VÖSI, reinforcing the shared vision of a digitally skilled, innovative, and responsible European technology ecosystem.
