In early 2026, the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD) strengthened its engagement across key national and international priorities, ranging from climate action and entrepreneurship to cyber security.
In February 2026, TBD participated in the COP31 Turkey/Antalya Consultation Meeting held in Ankara, as part of Türkiye’s preparations to host the 31st Session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Antalya between 9–20 November 2026. The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and COP31 President Murat Kurum, brought together non-governmental organisations to discuss contributions ahead of the conference.
TBD highlighted the increasingly critical role of digital technologies and the IT sector in combating climate change, reaffirming its commitment to supporting Türkiye’s green transformation processes through technological expertise and active participation in strategic initiatives.
In March 2026, TBD continued to foster technology entrepreneurship through the launch of BIGG ENTER ONE in Van, implemented in cooperation with Van Technopark and Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Technology Transfer Office, within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1812 BIGG Program.
The event brought together academics, stakeholder institutions, TBD Board members and entrepreneur candidates to discuss transforming technology-based ideas into sustainable business models.
Speaking at the event, Kenan Nurhan Altınsaat, President of the Turkish Informatics Association, underlined TBD’s commitment to innovation, stating: “With informatics, we transform ideas into sustainable business models. We continue to support the success and continuity of the project in every aspect.”
In April 2026, TBD organised the 9th Cyber Security Ecosystem Development Summit in Ankara, once again convening key actors from the public sector, private sector, academia and civil society. The summit was attended by, among others, Ümit Önal, Head of Cyber Security of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye; Kenan Nurhan Altınsaat; Prof. Dr. Melahat Bilge Demirköz, Member of the United Nations International Independent Scientific Artificial Intelligence Panel and Director of METU Space and Accelerator Technologies Application and Research Center (İVMER).
Discussions focused on cyber security from the perspectives of technology, people, processes, law and society, with particular emphasis on the impact of artificial intelligence, future cyber threats and emerging defence mechanisms.
Through these activities, the Turkish Informatics Association continues to play a leading role in shaping Türkiye’s digital future, contributing to sustainable development, innovation and cyber resilience.
