
The International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) has published their Code of Ethics which will also be brought out as a book later this year. The Code outlines principles that IT professionals should aspire to. The first section contains seven common ethical principles that are shared by other professions. The second section, “Professional responsibilities”, outlines nine professional responsibilities specific to IT professions. The third section adds seven other responsibilities, applicable to those IT professionals who hold leadership positions. The principles are accompanied by guidance on how they should be applied to professional decisions.
