One of the newest members of CEPIS, the Kosovo Informatics Society (SHPIK) has quickly established itself as a dynamic and forward-looking force within Kosovo’s ICT ecosystem. Since joining CEPIS, SHPIK has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing informatics, empowering ICT professionals, and fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and public institutions. Over the past year in particular, the society has made notable strides in community building, professional development, and international engagement—laying solid foundations for long-term impact.
In this spotlight, we highlight some of SHPIK’s key achievements from the past year and the momentum they are building as an active member of the CEPIS community.
Over the past year, SHPIK has delivered wide-ranging initiatives to strengthen digital skills and ICT education across Kosovo. Through partnerships with 15 Municipal Directorates of Education and leading private-sector actors, SHPIK brought global programs such as Hour of Code and the Bebras Computing Challenge to hundreds of public schools, engaging tens of thousands of students nationwide.
SHPIK also made a strong contribution to vocational education, supporting 22 vocational schools with structured ICT modules aligned with labour-market needs, training over 200 teachers, and reaching more than 3,000 students. In parallel, SHPIK invested in teacher upskilling and inclusion, delivering coding trainings for preschool and primary educators and running TechLead(H)er, a mentorship programme empowering young women to pursue leadership and careers in technology.
Together, these achievements highlight SHPIK’s growing role in building a sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready digital education ecosystem in Kosovo.
