Be Part of Europe’s AI Skills Standard: Join the Initiative

Europe is taking a decisive step toward building a strong and future-proof AI workforce. A new initiative, led by DIGITALEUROPE in collaboration with UNE – Asociación Española de Normalización and ARISA – AI Skills partners, is developing the first standardised set of AI role and educational profiles designed specifically for Europe’s needs.

At the heart of the project is a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA), created together with the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN). Unlike formal standards, CWAs are developed collaboratively by experts and stakeholders and offer practical, market-driven solutions at a much faster pace—an ideal fit for the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

The first draft of AI professional roles is now open for review, and the project team is calling on stakeholders from across Europe—employers, educators, policymakers, and AI professionals—to join the CWA Stakeholders Group free of charge. Members can contribute to the areas most relevant to their expertise and will be formally credited by name and organisation in the final CEN publication.

By aligning educational profiles with defined role requirements, the initiative aims to provide clarity and consistency for companies, universities, and professionals alike. The resulting framework will support workforce planning, training programmes, and policy decisions, while helping Europe remain competitive in the global AI race.
