CCII Advances CPD through UPRO

Spain’s Consejo General de Ingeniería Informática (CCII) has completed its training activities within UPRO, the digital skills programme coordinated by Unión Profesional and supported by Red.es through EU NextGenerationEU funding. Participation reached more than 5% of the registered members of CCII’s constituent professional bodies.

UPRO offers 150 hours of training, combining 40 hours of cross-cutting digital skills with 110 hours tailored to each professional field. Its flexible approach combines online learning, webinars, face-to-face sessions and personalised tutoring, making continuing professional development accessible alongside work commitments.

The programme covers areas such as artificial intelligence and generative AI, cybersecurity, data analysis and governance, digital collaboration tools, and the management of digital transformation. CCII’s contribution also included a quantum computing module, developed with academics from the universities of Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha.

Delivery brought together practising computing professionals, tutors and university experts, with strong involvement from members of CCII’s professional bodies in both teaching and content development.

Beyond its participation figures, the initiative has produced reusable learning resources and strengthened collaboration between professional bodies and universities. It illustrates how professional associations can support lifelong learning by combining practical digital skills with exposure to emerging technologies.
