Cybersecurity Declared a Matter of National Survival at IAT’s 8th Cyber Summit

The Informatics Association of Turkiye (IAT) hosted the 8th Summit on Developing the Cyber Security Ecosystem on 12 July, drawing leading experts, policymakers, and technologists to discuss the pressing challenges and future directions of cybersecurity.

Held under the theme “Cyber Ecosystem of the Future: Trust, Resilience and Innovation,” the summit underscored the growing strategic importance of cyber defense in national and global contexts.

Opening remarks were delivered by IAT’s President Kenan Nurhan Altınsaat, who emphasized the urgent need to build robust and trusted digital infrastructures. His speech set the tone for the day-long event, which included panels, keynote addresses, and expert discussions on a range of critical topics — including the protection of digital sovereignty, enhancing resilience in cyber systems, and navigating the rising risks associated with artificial intelligence.

A unifying conclusion emerged across the sessions: cybersecurity is no longer a technical or regulatory issue alone, but a “matter of survival of the state.” The summit closed with a renewed call for multi-stakeholder collaboration and innovative strategies to secure the country’s digital future.

The annual event continues to serve as a critical platform for shaping Turkiye’s cybersecurity agenda and fostering international cooperation in an increasingly volatile digital landscape.
