In Q4 of 2025, the European Commission and its Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) announced the ninth set of open calls under the Digital Europe Programme, with just over €204 million allocated to projects accelerating the deployment of key digital technologies across EU Member States.
Opening on 4 November 2025 and closing on 3 March 2026, the calls place a strong emphasis on advanced digital skills. Two flagship calls stand out: ELEVATE, which will create a coordinated European framework linking initiatives in AI, cybersecurity, quantum, virtual worlds and semiconductors; and European Advanced Digital Skills Competitions, a series of six EU-wide competitions designed to inspire young Europeans and strengthen talent pipelines in strategic technology areas.
Beyond skills, the nine calls support a wide range of priorities, including AI uptake, digital innovation in health and public services, the European Digital Identity Wallet, industrial data sharing, biomedical research via the European Genomic Data Infrastructure, and measures to combat disinformation. Together, the funded projects aim to strengthen Europe’s digital capacity and contribute to the 2030 Digital Decade targets.
