The Women’s Group of the German Society of Informatics will hold its annual conference from 17 to 19 April 2026 in Munich, bringing together researchers, professionals and advocates to address one of the most urgent challenges of the digital age.
This year’s conference is dedicated to the theme “Digital violence as a societal challenge and threat to democracy.” The programme will feature three keynote speakers who will present different perspectives on digital violence, with a particular focus on its impact on women, including harassment, threats and abuse on social media platforms. Discussions will explore how such threats can be effectively addressed, mitigated or prevented, and what responsibilities lie with society, institutions and the tech community in safeguarding democratic values online.
Beyond its topical focus, the conference also marks a significant milestone: the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Women’s Group within the German Society of Informatics. The anniversary will be celebrated with a special social programme featuring music, cake and reflections on four decades of commitment to gender equality, professional empowerment and the advancement of women in informatics.
The annual conference serves as an important forum for dialogue, knowledge exchange and networking, combining critical debate on contemporary digital challenges with a celebration of the group’s long-standing history and achievements.
