CEPIS has always worked towards increasing the number of women in the tech industry, and is always on the lookout for more opportunities to work towards gender equality in tech. That is why this year we have partnered with one of the biggest conferences for women in tech in Europe – the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2023, which will take place on 14-15 June in Warsaw, Poland.
“Your people, your potential” workshop series kicks off
On 22 February, we kicked off our new ”Your people, your potential: Tools for impact” practical closed workshop series with tackling a particularly hot topic: quotas or targets?. In this exclusive workshop, we offered our Members and a few select guests an opportunity to discuss the benefits and disadvantages of both approaches.
Reframe, retrain, redeploy: how to achieve more women in tech
McKinsey, a global consultancy firm, has published a new paper: ‘Women in tech: The best bet to solve Europe’s talent shortage’. This comprehensive report looks at all stages of female involvement in tech – from primary school to workforce. It identifies the main reasons of lack of women in tech, and proposes concrete actions to improve the situation.

Informatics Association of Türkiye receives DiversIT Charter Gold Certificate
On 24 November 2022, the Informatics Association of Türkiye (IAT) received the Gold level certificate of DiversIT Charter. The Gold level certificate recognises the recipient as being a leader in achieving gender equality in IT professions. IAT had obtained the Bronze level certificate in November 2019. Now, after 3 years, they have recertified for Gold.
DiversIT Conference emphasises allyship for gender equality in tech
The 3rd annual DiversIT Charter event took place on 29 November 2022 online. This year, more than 70 participants gathered together to answer the question “Can we work together?” How can a multi-stakeholder approach help increase gender equality in tech?.
Gender gap identified in the metaverse economy
There is a discernible gender gap in the metaverse, similar to the gap that exists in Fortune 500 companies and start-ups, according to a recent study by McKinsey.
European Parliament adopts law on gender balance on corporate boards
The European Parliament has formally adopted the new EU law on gender balance on corporate boards, which means that companies by 2026 will need to have 40% of the underrepresented sex among non-executive directors or 33% among all directors.
Ský becomes national DiversIT ambassador in Iceland
The Icelandic Computer Society Ský, a member of CEPIS and a certified Gold Member of the DiversIT Charter, has recently been officially appointed the national DiversIT Charter ambassador in Iceland.
