CEPIS is pleased to announce that the Icelandic Computer Society, Ský (Skýrslutæknifélag Íslands), has successfully renewed its certification under the CEPIS DiversIT Charter, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to promoting gender equality, diversity, and inclusion across Iceland’s digital sector. Ský was the first CEPIS member society to achieve DiversIT Charter Gold status in 2021 and continues to demonstrate leadership in creating a more inclusive technology community.
The recertification recognises Ský’s sustained efforts to encourage girls and women to pursue studies and careers in information and communication technologies, while fostering balanced representation across its programmes, events, and professional networks. Through initiatives such as the renowned UTmessan technology conference, educational outreach activities, and collaboration with national and international partners, Ský has consistently championed diversity as a cornerstone of Iceland’s digital future.
The CEPIS DiversIT Charter is a European certification framework designed to help organisations assess, strengthen, and showcase their commitment to gender diversity in technology. The Charter recognises achievement of organisations that demonstrate mature and impactful diversity practices.
As a recognised DiversIT Charter leader and national ambassador in Iceland, Ský plays an important role in raising awareness of the benefits of diverse workplaces and supporting organisations that wish to improve gender balance within their technology teams. The society has actively promoted the Charter within Iceland and encouraged companies and institutions to join the growing European community dedicated to advancing women in technology.
The assessment team praised Ský’s continued dedication to building a more inclusive digital ecosystem and serving as an example for other professional societies across Europe. By maintaining its high standards and supporting the next generation of technology professionals, Ský continues to demonstrate that diversity and innovation go hand in hand.
