Neumann Society introduces the ICDL Artificial Intelligence module in Hungary

The John von Neumann Computer Society (NJSzT) presented the module to interested parties at a large-scale conference held at Óbuda University, with the participation of prominent experts. The conference was titled “Don’t just use it! Understand Artificial Intelligence!”

Following the event, the Society made the Artificial Intelligence module’s course material available free of charge (Hungarian language only), which can be downloaded from their website. The module’s curriculum is based on the ICDL Fondation’s AI module syllabus and has been adapted to Hungarian conditions by Dr. Zoltán Szabó, a research fellow at HUN-REN SZTAKI and the AI EDIH Hungary project. The professional lector for the curriculum is Dr. László Gulyás, president of the Artificial Intelligence Department of the John von Neumann Computer Society.

“With the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence, we can only keep up if we not only use it but also understand how it works. Our Artificial Intelligence module provides a stable approach and solid knowledge, which, once acquired, allows users to easily learn how to use any new AI-based tool, as they have a thorough understanding of the basic principles. We teach the basics of AI use with scientific rigor, but in a way that is easy to understand. This fits perfectly with the ICDL philosophy, which, in addition to teaching general digital skills that have become standard today, aims to ensure that users have up-to-date digital knowledge by adapting to the rapidly growing innovations in the field,” said Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, chairman of the John von Neumann Computer Society, regarding the module’s introduction.

As 11 higher education institutions in Hungary already award extra points for ICDL certification in their admission procedures, and more and more institutions are introducing “AI awareness” for first-year students, the John von Neumann Computer Society expects the new AI module to become popular among Hungarian examinees.
