The UK government has created a new framework for assessing the ethics, transparency, and accountability of the algorithms in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automated systems. Its purpose is to help government departments ensure safe, sustainable, and ethical use of automated or algorithmic decision-making systems. The framework was created in response to a call for a more clear and transparent process, since research from BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, as well as others, showed that there was a distinct distrust in the regulation of advanced technology.
