Hungarian Team Achieves Two Gold Medals at CEOI

The Hungarian team has returned home with two gold medals from the Central-European Olympiad in Informatics (CEOI), marking a historic achievement. This year’s CEOI took place in Brno, Czechia, from June 23-29. Teams from the eight CEOI countries, along with five invited countries, competed in advanced algorithmic thinking tasks.

All members of the Hungarian student team, coached by the John von Neumann Society’s (NJSzT) Department of Talent Management, secured medal placements. This accomplishment represents the best Hungarian result in the over thirty-year history of the competition.

Despite his young age, Ádám István Molnár, the absolute first-place winner, already boasts a distinguished career with outstanding results in several student Olympiads. He also played a pivotal role in winning the gold medal at this year’s International Informatics Olympiad in Teams (IIOT).

This remarkable achievement is the culmination of many years of hard work. The young participants, having gained international competition experience, performed at their best.

Looking ahead, there are three more major IT student Olympiads on the horizon, the soonest being the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), which will be held in Eindhoven from July 21-27. This competition is particularly significant to the NJSzT, as girls are still significantly under-represented in STEM fields.
