The Proceedings of the 1st International Conference on Digital Skills and IT Professionalism (ICODSIP) have been made freely accessible via Zenodo, the open-access repository developed by CERN under the European OpenAIRE program. Researchers and professionals can now explore the collection at Zenodo, complete with a DOI for citation purposes.
For conference participants, copies of the presentations are available exclusively to those registered in the same Zenodo community. These materials are subject to a six-month embargo and will be openly available to the public starting 15 May 2025. This initiative highlights the commitment to advancing open knowledge sharing in digital skills and IT professionalism.
The first iteration of ICODSIP took place on November 14–15, 2024, at the Universidad de Alcalá in Spain, organized by CEPIS alongside the University of Alcalá and the Spanish Informatics Association (ATI). The event brought together over 50 participants, including researchers, educators, and industry leaders, to address topics such as the digital skills gap, IT professionalism, AI in education and industry, and female talent in tech. Highlights included a keynote by Ernestina Mensalvas, panels, and innovative projects like DIGITAL4Business and the European Software Skills Alliance. With 65% female participation and 77% of speakers/moderators being women, the conference underscored inclusivity while fostering collaboration across academia, policy, and industry. Participants also enjoyed networking opportunities and explored the historic city of Alcalá de Henares, enhancing connections and dialogue on Europe’s digital transformation.
Luis Fernandez-Sanz, CEPIS President, said: “This type of event, where researchers, academics, trainers, industry professionals, practitioners, and managers of EU-funded projects can come together to discuss advances in digital skills and IT professionalism, was much needed to establish a comprehensive, pan-European, and well-reviewed foundation of contributions to guide further developments within the EU’s Digital Decade.”
