The John von Neumann Society (NJSzT), Hungary’s premier organization for computer science and information technology and CEPIS member in Hungary, has announced the appointment of Professor Levente Kovács as its new President. A distinguished academic and expert in control systems and biomedical engineering, Professor Kovács brings decades of experience and innovation to the role.
Under his leadership, the Neumann Society aims to development talent for students in both public education and higher education; preservation and research of the IT heritage; dissemination of digital competencies within society (ICDL) and providing a professional forum for Hungarian IT professionals, as well as enhancing the name of Neumann as a brand, in a manner befitting the intellectual legacy and heritage of the world-renowned, genius scientist by increasing the international activity of NJSZT. The aims testify the strong collaboration that NJSzT would like to continue with CEPIS shaping the IT profession on a European level.

“It is my pleasure to take over the leadership of a well-established and highly respected organisation that, more than half a century ago, played a pivotal role in introducing IT in Hungary. In recent decades, it has also excelled in the broad dissemination of digital skills and the preservation of Hungary’s IT heritage. Moving forward, I aim to further strengthen the brand of the Neumann Society, building on the stable foundations provided by the ICDL training system and IT talent management. I also aspire for the organisation to achieve a position that reflects the international scientific recognition of its namesake, János Neumann,” the newly elected president said.
NJSzT, named after renowned mathematician John von Neumann, plays a key role in shaping Hungary’s IT landscape.
