At the University Students’ Research Project Competitions of the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST) 2022, the project team, which consists of graduates of the Computer Engineering Department, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Eryilmaz, achieved the second place in the “Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship” category.
TEKNOFEST, which is held every year, has become one of the world’s largest aviation and space festivals with great interest from all segments of society, especially students and youth. It is organized by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey.
Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Eryilmaz, who is also a member of the CEPIS expert group on digital skills, and an executive Board member of Informatics Association of Turkey (TBD), Halis Karakurt and Batuhan Ors developed a kitchen expense tracker and virtual fridge web and mobile application with a recipe database as their graduation project. With the rising economic crisis in the world and in Turkey, it was concluded that students and stay-at-home people in particular needed the information to be provided by the application, in the necessity survey conducted for the application, which was based on the idea that people should display more economical behaviors.
