In the second half of 2020, the German Informatics Society set out to explore environmental, social, structural, and economic aspects of digital sustainability in the international project Youth4DigitalSustainability. The 50 experts, who are all under 30 years of age, brought with them perspectives from all world regions.
A set of 12 policy recommendations were presented at the United Nation’s Internet Governance Forum in November, and the four working groups have now published a range of background papers, providing context and insight into the implementation of their messages. The background papers on Greening the Internet, Sustainable AI Governance, Fair Digital Businesses, and Linguistic and Gender Diversity are ready to download on the project website.
