A new Eurobarometer survey highlighted by ENISA during the European Cybersecurity Month, which kicked off earlier this week, reveals that cyber threats remain a daily reality in the workplace. Over the six months preceding the survey, 74% of employees reported receiving suspicious emails, messages, links, or other potentially malicious communications, with phishing remaining the most common threat.
The findings show that employees are increasingly aware of cybersecurity risks, with 83% believing that a successful cyberattack would have serious consequences for their organisation. At the same time, 85% expressed interest in improving their cybersecurity skills, although barriers such as lack of time, training costs, and limited employer support continue to hinder upskilling efforts.
To strengthen cyber resilience across Europe, ENISA continues to provide awareness and skills-development resources, including the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF), AR-in-a-Box awareness materials, and cybersecurity education initiatives aimed at both organisations and individuals.
