Commission Launches Public Consultation on Apply AI Strategy

The European Commission has launched a public consultation and call for evidence on its forthcoming Apply AI Strategy, open from 9 April to 4 June 2025. Led by the Commission’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Office, the strategy is due for release later this year and forms part of President von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines to position Europe as a global leader in AI innovation.

The Apply AI Strategy aims to accelerate the adoption of AI across key strategic sectors—including energy, defence, mobility, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing—while boosting European competitiveness and enhancing public services. It will also serve as the EU’s overarching AI framework and be closely linked with the forthcoming European Strategy for AI in Science.

Stakeholders from industry, civil society, academia, and public authorities are invited to submit their input by the deadline of 4 June 2025 via the Commission’s “Have your say” portal. The consultation seeks feedback on sector-specific challenges, implementation of the AI Act, and potential policy approaches. Structured dialogues with industry and Member States will also accompany the consultation process.
