EU launches €204 million in digital innovation funding

The European Commission has announced over €204 million in new funding under the Digital Europe Programme to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge digital technologies across the EU. 

The nine new calls target areas such as AI, big data, digital skills, health, public services, and the automotive sector. They include: 

  • €15 million to develop the EU Digital Identity Wallet and mobile driving licences. 
  • €87.2 million to expand the Network of European Digital Innovation Hubs. 
  • €36.9 million for biomedical research and AI in medical imaging. 
  • €9 million to boost industrial data sharing. 
  • €4.5 million to support the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Alliance. 
  • €6 million for the European Digital Media Observatory to counter disinformation. 

The calls follow the recent amendment to the DIGITAL Work Programme 2025–2027, aligning EU investments with evolving technological priorities.
