2023 is the John von Neumann Commemorative Year, marking the 120th anniversary of the Hungarian scientist’s birth. CEPIS Member from Hungary, the John von Neumann Computer Society has been celebrating von Neumann’s legacy with over 50 events and will soon host the von Neumann 120 conference.

The conference, taking place on 14 September at the Hungarian Science Academy in Budapest, will bring together international participants to discuss the impact of von Neumann’s work. Besides the upcoming conference, other events have included an opening event for the commemorative year, an exhibition at von Neumann’s secondary school, a poster exhibition at Budapest Spring Festival, a memorial tree planting, the granting of the von Neumann Professorship Award, and the issue of a commemorative coin by the Hungarian National Bank.
