Have Your Say: Consultation on Draft AI High-Risk Classification Guidelines

The European Commission has published draft guidelines clarifying how to classify high-risk artificial intelligence (AI) systems and is now inviting stakeholders to share their views.

The proposed guidance aims to help AI providers and deployers determine whether their systems fall under the “high-risk” category defined in the EU AI Act. Under the legislation, certain AI applications are considered high-risk when they may pose significant threats to health, safety or fundamental rights.

The draft has been made available on the AI Act Single Information Platform, with a public consultation open until 23 June 2026. Feedback is sought from a wide range of stakeholders, including businesses, public authorities, developers, researchers and citizens.

The consultation marks an important step in shaping how the AI Act will be applied in practice, as the EU continues to develop its regulatory framework for trustworthy and safe AI.
