Luis Fernandez-Sanz Re-elected as CEPIS President

Luis Fernandez-Sanz (Informatics Association of Spain, ATI) has been re-elected as President of the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) during the organisation’s Council meeting held this May in Vienna.

A longstanding contributor to the field of informatics and digital policy, Luis has played a pivotal role in strengthening CEPIS’s voice on key issues such as digital skills development, ethical technology use, and professional standards in IT. His re-election ensures continuity in CEPIS’s strategic initiatives, including the promotion of inclusivity in tech and fostering collaboration between national informatics societies, particularly regarding CEPIS’s and the member societies’ involvement in EU projects.

During the meeting, delegates from across Europe acknowledged the progress made under Luis’s leadership and expressed their support for his renewed mandate. The Council also discussed ongoing projects and new priorities for the coming term, including support for digital transformation efforts and enhancing the role of IT professionals in shaping sustainable and secure digital societies.

Luis thanked the Council for their trust and reaffirmed his commitment to championing excellence, ethics, and innovation in European informatics.
