CEPIS President Highlights Efforts to Advance IT Professionalism in Europe

In a recent interview, Luis Fernandez-Sanz, President of the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS), underscored the organisation’s commitment to enhancing IT professionalism across Europe. CEPIS focuses on career development and fostering interest in new technologies. Luis highlighted CEPIS’s involvement in the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative, aimed at bridging the skills gap through targeted training.

He also emphasised the significance of the recent “Stay in Tech” conference, a collaborative effort to support female IT talent, and stressed the need for educational adjustments to integrate AI and deep tech concepts early on. Additionally, he advocated for standardised IT certifications and frameworks like the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF) to better align training with market demands, ensuring improved recruitment and mobility of IT professionals.

This interview underscores the evolving landscape of IT and the critical role of education and standardisation in shaping a resilient and adaptable workforce.

The interview was conducted by EIT Deep Tech Talent, a programme led by the European Institute of Technology and Innovation (EIT) that has committed to skilling one million people within deep tech fields over the next three years.
