The European Commission has proposed to define a set of principles for a human-centred digital transformation, in a declaration on Digital Rights and Principles. This would be a reference framework for people, and a guide for businesses and policymakers, to help increase safety, security and empowerment of individuals, as well as promoting the sustainability of the digital future.
As a next step, the Commission has invited the Council and the European Parliament to discuss the draft declaration, and to endorse it at the highest level by summer 2022.
ITPE/CEPIS welcomes the initiative as it is actively contributing to the current discussions on professional ethics, and how we can strive to ensure more safety and security in IT. ITPE is organising a webinar on professional ethics on 15 February. Learn more and register for the webinar here.
