VIScon 2024, ETH Zurich’s annual computer science fair, brought together 80 programmers, industry experts, and students for an inspiring weekend of innovation. The event featured lectures, workshops, and an intensive hackathon led by Ayşegül Barlas, offering hands-on learning opportunities and real-world applications.
Participants tackled challenges like building IoT solutions, defending against social engineering, and developing apps such as LectureLinker and ETHGuessr. Sidequests and an expo showcasing cutting-edge projects enhanced the experience. With CHF 5000 in prizes, VIScon reaffirmed its role in bridging academia and industry.
Priska Altorfer, member of the CEPIS Women in ICT expert group and Chair of the Donna Informatica SIG of the Swiss Informatics Society, joined the event as a mentor for the participating students.
