As the EU faces a pressing digital skills gap—only 56% of Europeans aged 16–74 possess basic digital skills—the Squad emphasized the urgency of action to meet Digital Decade goals: 80% digital proficiency by 2030 and a workforce of 20 million ICT professionals. Current trajectories suggest these targets could be missed without intensified efforts, risking economic and technological setbacks.

The first International Conference on Digital Skills and IT Professionalism, jointly organised by CEPIS and ATI, and hosted by the University of Alcalá, will take place on 14 and 15 November in Alcalá de Henares. The conference will feature two tracks: E-Competences and IT Professionalism, and Digital Competence and Skills.
Dansk IT Advocates for Digital Skills and Ethical AI
Since 2020 Dansk IT, the Danish IT Society, has been ‘home’ to the National Coalition of the Digital Skills and Jobs Platform (DSJP). Earlier this spring, Dansk IT finished the project phase, but the work to promote digital skills continues.
